The University of Hong Kong’s Centre for Sports and Exercise (CSE), working alongside the University Health Service (UHS), is delighted to declare the successful wrap-up of Exercise is Medicine (EIM) Month 2026—a month-long campaign that ran through May to champion physical activity as an essential pillar of health and wellness within the HKU community.

This year's celebration perfectly aligned with HKU's milestone 115th anniversary and its inspiring theme, “Reaching Out, Rising Higher.” Reflecting a century-long legacy of connecting diverse communities and extending impact beyond campus boundaries, EIM Month 2026 invited students, staff, alumni, and the wider community to look forward to the university's next chapter through the power of movement.

As the first EIM Gold Level Campus in Hong Kong, HKU continues to lead in fostering a culture of health through its Exercise is Medicine on Campus (EIM-OC) initiative, a global effort championed by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).

Programme Highlights

Weekly Training Classes: Two fitness sessions per week were held at HKU’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the HKU B-Active and CSE Active Fitness Centres. These classes, led by qualified instructors, catered to participants of all fitness levels, offering activities such as strength training, core stability workouts, yoga.

Weekly Knowledge Bits: Each week, the CSE shared engaging "Knowledge Bits" that educated the HKU community on the benefits of physical activity. These bite-sized insights covered exercise for chronic disease prevention, bone health through weight-bearing activities, and tips for staying active. Shared via the EIM website and social media, they reached a wide audience and promoted practical health improvements.

HKU 115 Challenge: Celebrating 115 years of HKU we challenged all students and staff to complete 115 daily reps of fundamental, full-body movements. This quick 3-to-6-minute routine aimed to boost strength, fitness, and campus camaraderie by building a healthier campus, one rep at a time!

Building on the success of EIM Month 2026, the Active Health Clinic at HKU B-Active will continue offering Faculty Health and Fitness Assessment, and Personal Fitness Guidance, empowering students and staff with the tools to maintain active lifestyles year-round.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all participants for their enthusiastic attendance and commitment to health. Thank you for your enthusiastic participation! See you again at the next EIM!
