We are delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the HKU Walking Challenge, recently held at the University of Hong Kong (HKU). This event has attracted active participation from students, faculty, staff, retirees, and alumni of the HKU community, and it has been an exciting journey symbolizing the spirit of sportsmanship, determination, and perseverance, drawing inspiration from the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Throughout this challenge, we collectively accumulated a total of 230,360,731 steps, equivalent to nearly eight round trips from Hong Kong to Paris. Participants embarked on a virtual journey to Paris, aiming to promote awareness of physical and mental well-being through healthy competition within and beyond the campus.
During this challenge, we witnessed the efforts and perseverance of the participants as they overcame various obstacles and remained steadfast in achieving their individual walking goals. They demonstrated resilience and dedication in their own unique ways, setting exemplary standards for the entire community.
Glen Joe, Head of Active Health Clinic, HKU, said "Once again, I extend my sincere thanks to everyone for their participation and support. Your hard work and exemplary performance have set a positive example for all of us to be more physically active for our physical and mental health."
