Celebrating an active lifestyle on campus with a month of free exercise activities.
Exercise is Medicine Month invited fitness enthusiasts on a captivating historical journey through the evolution of exercise. Embracing the theme "One Step One Rep: Fitness Through Time," this month-long event offered a distinctive exploration of the varied eras that have influenced the fitness landscape. To deepen participants' engagement with each weekly theme, workshops and educational outreach were organized, to encourage participants to be more physically active for their health and well being.
In Week 1, participants delved into the modern era of fitness with dynamic workouts like CrossFit and HIIT sessions that aimed to push boundaries and redefine fitness goals. The Fitness Challenge Race at Happy Park tested limits and provided an opportunity for staff and students to try this newest form of exercise.
Transitioning to Week 2's Group Classes Era, attendees grooved to iconic tunes in classes such as Zumba and Body Pump that challenged cardiovascular fitness and provided an engaging experience. Week 3 focused on the Golden Era of Body Building, allowing participants to engage in strength training workshops and explore the legacy of bodybuilding icons like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Finally, Week 4 delved into the Early Era of Fitness, spotlighting foundational exercises like calisthenics and gymnastics that paved the way for modern fitness routines, emphasizing the historical significance of these practices.
Visitors engaged in our Fitness Fun Booths, provided around the campus throughout the month, participating in challenges and games designed to keep them active and informed. These activities included fitness testing that provided not only an educational opportunity but also a chance to win prizes.
