Exercise is Medicine Month took fitness enthusiasts on a historical journey through the evolution of exercise. With the theme "One Step One Rep: Fitness Through Time," the month-long event promised a unique look into the diverse eras that shaped the fitness landscape. Let's reflect on the weekly highlights that participants experienced:
In Week 1, participants delved into the modern era of fitness with dynamic workouts like CrossFit and HIIT sessions that aimed to push boundaries and redefine fitness goals. The Fitness Challenge Race tested limits, showcasing contemporary approaches that shaped the fitness world.
Glen Joe, Head of Active Health Clinic, HKU, said: “The Halloween Mini Marathon is always a great end to our EIM Month in October. To see such a great turnout; staff, students, family and friends coming together to be physically active for our physical and mental health whilst having fun, exemplifies the EIM message that we are trying to promote.”
The Halloween Mini-Marathon was a part of the Exercise is Medicine on Campus Month, a global initiative that encourages universities and colleges to promote physical activity as a crucial indicator of health and well-being. The University of Hong Kong, having initiated this programme in 2016, became the first Asian university to receive the Gold EIM on Campus Recognition for their efforts in enhancing the health and well-being of the HKU community.
